Gareth Edwards in Talks to Direct New ‘Jurassic World’ Film

Prince Edward has given an update regarding King Charles’ health, following the news that the monarch had been diagnosed with cancer. Back in February, Buckingham Palace revealed that the King, 75, had been diagnosed with cancer and that while he would be postponing his public duties he “remains wholly positive about his treatment”.The statement added that the King had chosen to share his diagnosis publicly in the hope that it may “assist public understanding” for everyone affected by cancer around the world. Since then, King Charles has provided some health updates and was recently seen smiling as he looked through some of the 7,000 messages of support he has received from around the world.

After a difficult few years for the Royal Family with the deaths of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and the reduced number of working royals following the departures of the Duke of York and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, one royal has truly stepped up to the plate. Known for carrying on his father's role with the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and his passions for the arts, Prince Edward has truly come into his own in the last few years and become a key source of support for The King.

After a deal couldn’t be made for David Leitch to direct, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have moved fast as the studio is in final negotiations for Rogue One director Gareth Edwards to helm a new Jurassic World movie. The studio recently dated the pic to bow on July 2, 2025 and moved fast to find a director with Edwards spending all of last week meeting with execs. After impressing producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall, who helped launch the franchise in the 90s, an offer soon followed and pre-production is expected to ramp up once a deal is sealed.

Sometimes, the call of nostalgia and influential blockbusters is too tempting to ignore. Despite his intended desire to stay away from blockbusters and big-brand I.P., and try and stick to original films, filmmaker Gareth Edwards is stepping in to direct the new “Jurassic World” film from writer David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park.” Edwards is “replacing” “Deadpool 2” and “Bullet Train” filmmaker David Leitch, who was briefly engaged in negotiations to direct the film but fell out over creative differences.

Netflix viewers are on the edge of their seats waiting for the first instalment of a new film release starring Millie Bobby Brown. Damsel premieres on March 8 with Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Nick Robinson, and Ray Winstone also on the cast list.
