With the advent of spring, flowers starting to bloom and blossom popping from branches, many of us dream of nurturing our own little piece of gardening heaven.
However, our ambitions are not always in line with our ability and for gardening novices it can be hard to know where to even begin to start carving out a green oasis.
The National Trust for Scotland knows something about gardens. The Trust is the custodians of historic gardens across Scotland, caring for a wealth of horticultural landmarks and cultivating over 100,000 individual plants, both native and exotic.
From Inverewe in the north, where the famous horticulturalist Osgood Mackenzie carved out an exotic lochside garden, to Broughton House and Garden in the south, where artist Hornel created a gentle labyrinth of stepping stones, wisteria-covered paths and Edwardian charm, each of the Trust’s extraordinary gardens delight everyone.
Now we can all benefit from this expertise – and support the work of the Trust – by subscribing to ROOTS.
For £6 a month, you’ll receive a ROOTS pack every six weeks, with gardening gifts that include a packet of Scottish seeds to grow at home, stories about Scotland’s plant life and tips from expert Trust gardeners.
Whether you buy ROOTS for yourself or as a gift for a loved one, your £6 will go towards supporting our gardens and designed landscapes, helping them flourish and thrive.
It’s a great treat for yourself or a gardening gift for a loved one.
