Urban gardener Kia Jade has offered her tried and tested method to rid gardens of plant-destroying slugs, in a video posted on TikTok. Kai recommends the use of cheap beer and shallow containers placed halfway into the soil, which is a common habitat for the creatures.
Jade's slug-removal strategy entails filling the containers with beer overnight and inspecting them the following morning for any captured ones. In one scenario, up to five were collected from her garden.
Delving deeper into her technique, she described: "They usually don't survive the beer but if they do, I take them on a long walk to a faraway bush and throw them in it."

The gardening trick was well received with several commenting on its effectiveness. One individual confessed: "I tried this. It worked too well. I cannot unsee that filled container."
A different anti-slug suggestion came from a social media user who recommended spreading coffee grounds over the soil as a deterrent, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
Another observed: "I go pick them up after dark! They are usually easy to spot and I have almost none left in my garden after just a few days."
However, not everyone wanted to remove the slimy creatures as one said: "If you don't want the slugs give them to me. I love slugs they are cute."
