A mum is desperately trying to find medical help for her 35 rescue cats after being banned from the local vet.
Lisa James set up Cat and Kitten rescue from her home in Middlesborough 12 years ago and has used Whitecross Vets to treat the animals for the last decade.
However, the 38-year-old is being forced to find an alternative after she refused to allow the Coulby Newham practice to put down a feral cat she had saved, Teesside Live reports.
She was told the pet should be euthanised after vets discovered that Jason, who was being treated for facial wounds due to fighting, had feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).
When the mum-of-four chose not to take her advice, Whitecross Vets sent her a letter telling her to seek another practice.
She said they will no longer treat two of her other rescue cats, who were already booked in to be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.
Lisa had has since rescued another 33 cats, including one which is paralysed, from a property near Albert Park and they are in desperate need of help..
She said she discovered "thin, scared and starving" cats and kittens which had been locked inside rooms with no food, toys or bedding and the windows taped shut.
She has raised the funds needed to treat the animals on Go Fund Me but cannot find a veterinary practice who will take on the rescue.
Lisa, who has rescued thousands of cats over the years, said: "I received a letter suspending my accounts and explaining they will no longer treat my animals or any in my care.
"This is because I refused to take their advice on putting a healthy cat to sleep because he is feral and FIV positive.
"He is not poorly, he is not suffering, he can live an entirely normal life! Why should that be taken from him because he’s FIV
