Hibs legend Franck Sauzee is set to return to Easter Road for the first time in 20 years.
The iconic former club captain will be back in Edinburgh on October 8 ahead of the Premiership clash with Motherwell. Sauzee has teamed up Hibs heroes Lewis Stevenson and Paul Hanlon to unveil an "Oor Franckie" model. Named after the Frenchman himself, the model was donated to the Hanlon-Stevenson Foundation and Sauzee will be in Leith in just a few days’ time to see it exhibited at Easter Road.
The 56-year-old, who made 90 appearances for the Hibees after joining from Montpellier in 1998, revealed his return will coincide with an "exciting" announcement for the Foundation. He will also present the match ball before the upcoming league clash with the Steelmen. Sauzee told the Hibs website: “I look forward to visiting Edinburgh in a few weeks' time when I will be unveiling “Oor Franckie” as well as presenting the match ball at the Motherwell match, which coincides with the announcement of an exciting fundraising event for Hanlon Stevenson Foundation."
Hibs' commercial director Greg McEwan added: "Everyone at Hibernian FC is looking forward to welcoming Franck back to Easter Road for what is bound to be an exciting afternoon. We are hopeful we can get a capacity crowd inside the stadium to give Franck the reception he deserves before kick-off."
Nicknamed "Le God", Sauzee is revered at Easter Road for a sparkling two-year stint during which he helped guide the club back to the top-flight and wore the armband for the Alex McLeish side that finished third in 2001. He scored 16 goals from centre-back and later managed the team for a short period.
