Former Manchester United academy defender Reece Brown has admitted that current Newcastle United and former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe wanted to sign him.
The now-30-year-old trained with the Reds first-team under Sir Alex Ferguson as a youngster, sharing a reserve dressing room with Paul Pogba during his four-year stay with United. During his loan spell at Ipswich, a plan was said to be in place which would see him join the English tactician after being offered a deal with the Tractor Boys towards the end of his deal at Carrington but he turned it down.
After a chat with then-Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy, he learned of the plans that would see him move to the Premier League outfit. But as a result, Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings made the move to the Vitality Stadium on the coast in 2015 before moving to the Midlands in 2019.

"It turned out, the plan was for me to go to Ipswich, play a season of football and then join Bournemouth in the Premier League. Instead, I turned it down, Tyrone Mings played instead and joined Bournemouth for £8 million.
"A few years later, I had a chat with Eddie about it."First thing he said… 'What happened?' I had no answers."(Howe) 'You had everything. I’ve always wanted to coach you, but you never had that spark to take it seriously.'"There’s the younger me in a nutshell, I guess," Brown added.
