No cause of death was given.In late March an initial toxicology report found that multiple drugs including opiates, antidepressants and marijuana were found in Hawkins’ system at the time of his death.

The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins took to the stage at tonight’s (September 27) Taylor Hawkins tribute concert in Los Angeles, joining the members of the late Foo Fighters drummer’s side project, The Coattail Riders, to perform a four-song set.The band, formed by Hawkins in 2004, released three studio albums – 2006’s self-titled effort, 2010’s ‘Red Light Fever’ and 2019’s ‘Get The Money’.At the London tribute concert for the late Foo Fighters icon earlier this month, Justin – who bears no relation to Taylor – joined The Coattail Riders to perform ‘Louise’ (from the 2006 album) and ‘It’s Over’ (from ‘Red Light Fever’), as well as ‘Range Rover Bitch’ from Hawkins’ 2016 solo EP, ‘Kota’.They played the latter two songs again tonight, but swapped ‘Louise’ out for two covers: ‘Something About You’ by Level 42 – performed with the English jazz-funk outfit’s frontman, Mark King – and The Darkness’ own 2003 hit ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’. The latter was a particularly special inclusion, given that Jett and the Foos have teamed up several times throughout the years to perform it together.One notable team-up, in 2011, saw Jett join the Foos to perform ‘Bad Reputation’ on Late Night With David Letterman.

Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett expects the band to make another album.The future of the band has been uncertain following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in March. Foo Fighters cancelled all their scheduled gigs following the loss and have avoided discussing plans beyond a pair of tribute concerts for Hawkins.However, in a new interview, guitarist Chris Shiflett has said that he expects there to be a new album from the band at some point.Speaking on The Plug With Justin Jay, Shiflett (who’s recently released solo singles ‘Born & Raised‘ and ‘Long, Long Year‘) was asked if other interviewers had brought up Hawkins’ passing or if it’s been “an elephant in the room”.“Most people that I’ve encountered have been respectful about it or try to avoid it,” said Shiflett.

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who played on Wilson’s solo album ‘You And Me’ last year.As Consequence reports, Wilson began writing the song the night of Hawkins’ death, and the song’s title refers to nicknames the pair gave one another. Over acoustic guitar chords and plaintive keys, Wilson sings, “Amigo, amiga, the kind of kind you’ll never find / The raddest of the rad, with everything you had / You and your radical sunshine.”Later, Wilson repeats a refrain that acknowledges the untimeliness of Hawkins’ passing at age 50 in Bogotá, Colombia in May of this year.

Matty Healy has said that he doesn’t want The 1975 to be as big as Foo Fighters.During a recent interview with Music Week, the ’75 frontman spoke about not feeling the need to achieve a hit single. “If I started caring about that now it would fucking stink,” he told the outlet.“I said this ages ago, everyone wants us to become a huge rock band and we want to become a small emo band.”Healy continued: “If we become Burial, I’m way happier with that than [becoming as big as] fucking Foo Fighters, do you know what I mean? I love the Foo Fighters, but I couldn’t do that.“It’s funny, there’s something about me that is very poppy and the stuff that comes out is poppy, but the references never are.”Later in the conversation Healy said that The 1975 had “been offered all the wrong things for the right money” (he recently spoke of his decision to turn down a lucrative deal to support Ed Sheeran).“I’ve never taken [those offers], and it’s not that I’m proud of myself, but that part of me has been tested,” the singer told Music Week.

Chris Shiflett has shared his latest solo single ‘Born & Raised’ – you can listen to the track below.The Foo Fighters guitarist recorded the song at the same time as ‘Long, Long Year’, which arrived back in July.While both of the songs were recorded with the producer Vance Powell in Nashville, ‘Born & Raised’ started life in Shiflett’s hometown of Santa Barbara.He later teamed up with bassist Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs, Jack White, Wanda Jackson), drummer Julian Doro (Eagles of Death Metal, The Whigs), keyboardist Mike Webb and steel guitarist Luke Schneider in Nashville to finish ‘Born & Raised’, which you can hear below.“My trip out to Nashville in March 2021 was my first time recording any solo material since I made [2019 solo album] ‘Hard Lessons’,” Shiflett said of the recording.“I hadn’t done much traveling post-COVID lockdown so I was a little nervous heading out there to work with a producer and roomful of musicians I didn’t really know.  In true Nashville style we made our introductions and got right down to work, hammering out the basic tracks in a few hours.“Vance was great and made me feel right at home, and the group of players he put together were on point.”More new music from Shiflett is expected to arrive in the coming months.Shiflett took part in last weekend’s tribute concert for the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, which took place at Wembley Stadium in London.
