Bret McKenzie has announced details of his debut solo album ‘Songs Without Jokes’ – you can listen to his new single ‘A Little Tune’ below.McKenzie, a member of Flight Of The Conchords and further renowned for his music work on The Muppets (2011) and Muppets Most Wanted (2014), will release the LP on August 26 via Sub Pop.‘Songs Without Jokes’ was produced by Mickey Petralia and McKenzie, and was mixed by Darrell Thorpe and recorded in LA at East West Studios and United Recordings.“Post-Conchords, I’d been working on songs for the Muppets films, and during a session I had the thought that it would be fun someday to work on some songs that weren’t for someone else, that don’t have to tell a story or be funny or continue the narrative plot, checking all the boxes for the character in the movie,” McKenzie said in a statement about his album. “I thought it’d be fun to do a record like that, something different.”The Ezra Simons-directed video for ‘A Little Tune’, the lead single from ‘Songs Without Jokes’, has also been released today (May 11). As well as Mexico, Canada and the United States, they’ll be heading to New Zealand and Australia in August, followed by Asia, and then the UK and Europe from September onwards.The Icelandic post-rock band started their tour in Mexico City on April 28, where they opened their 20-song set with ‘Svefn-g-englar’, marking the first time they’ve played the track since 2013.They then following this with ‘Rafmagnið búið’, giving the track from their 1999 album ‘Ágætis byrjun’, its live debut.

Elisabeth Murdoch, Stacey Snider and Jane Featherstone’s indie studio Sister has entered a first-look deal with the new production company Wychwood Media, from Harry Potter filmmaker David Yates and his producing partner, Lewis Taylor. Under the pact, the pair will develop and produce both scripted and unscripted film, television and documentary content for Sister’s offices in both the U.S. and UK. Yates will also have the option to direct projects coming together through the deal.

Kacey Musgraves is set to feature on the soundtrack for the upcoming Elvis Presley biopic Elvis, contributing a cover of Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’.The singer revealed her addition to the soundtrack on the red carpet of the 2022 Met Gala. Variety reports that Musgraves was in attendance alongside both Priscilla Presley and Elvis‘ director, Baz Luhrmann.
