A fly-tipper who used Facebook to advertise services of illegally dumping rubbish has been tried in Magistrates court. Colin O’Grady, from Beswick, would get paid to dispose of waste, however, after a thorough investigation from the council, it was found that rubbish was dumped in different areas in Manchester.
The 51-year-old’s fly-tipping was found in areas such as Gorton, Harpurhey, Moston and Openshaw.

O'Grady was asked multiple times to appear and conduct interviews however, no response was received.
Biffa workers learned that rubbish had been disposed of improperly, they carefully went through it to find any traces of proof and track it back to O’Grady.
Members of the Council's Environmental Crimes Team made contact with homeowners whose waste could be used to locate them, they discovered that the residents had paid O'Grady to dispose of it.
On Facebook, It was discovered that he had used the name "OG Rubbish Removals" when promoting his services of waste disposal.
On September 7, 2023, O'Grady entered a guilty plea to five charges under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 during a hearing at Manchester Magistrates' Court.
In a Friday, November 17, 2023, sentencing session, he was given a 12-month community order that included 80 hours of unpaid labour.
In addition, he had to pay £800 in court costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
