It’s certainly been a season to forget so far for Manchester United fans – and it’s perhaps unsurprising they aren’t too confident about the summer either.
Just over halfway through the season, their hopes of any silverware look to be over after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough on Friday in a game that perhaps summed up their campaign.
Despite Ralf Rangnick’s arrival as interim manager generally yielding better results, performances have still been lacking, and fans were left frustrated once again as spurned chance after chance in throwing away their best hope of a trophy.
The defeat came after a chaotic end to the January transfer window, with Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial leaving on loan, while Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson had moves blocked on deadline day.

All the while, United chose to make no new signings, despite obvious areas for improvement, and now they will have to battle to finish fourth in the Premier League using the same squad that has severely underperformed so far this season.
