Expert debunks eight 'concerning' energy saving hacks that claim to slash bills

Brits have been on the hunt for tips to reduce their energy use, in the hopes to slash bills this winter, but there is the question of whether they actually work, or are fully safe.
As costs continue to rise, people are willing to try anything to keep heat from escaping households, as well as cheaper ways to stay warm like extra insulation. But one expert is "concerned" about some hacks that are doing the rounds, which he feels households should avoid as they are unsafe.
From causing health problems, to creating safety hazards, or being downright "nonsense", Jonathan Rolande, from House Buy Fast has said there are some tips which are not worth trying.
He explained: “At the moment it can be tempting to follow every single piece of advice out there in relation to energy and money saving. But, like anything, not all advice is good advice and I’ve become concerned in recent weeks about certain measures which are being promoted.
"Obvious steps like taking shorter showers, wearing an extra layer of clothing and turning down the heating a degree will save you money. But there are other measures being suggested which aren’t right for many householders.”

Keeping windows closed may prevent draughts, but in the long term, it can cause condensation to occur, which may be expensive to fix.
