A man has denied murdering Burnley mum-of-two Katie Kenyon in court. Andrew Burfield, 50, pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared at Preston Crown Court today (Monday August 22). Katie was last seen getting into a van in Padiham on April 22.
A missing persons investigation was launched with officers from Lancashire Police spending a week searching for the 33-year-old, reports LancsLive.
On April 29, 2022, Katie's body was found in the Forest of Bowland, following 'new information'. A post-mortem examination carried out on May 1 concluded she died from head injuries.

Katie's ex boyfriend Andrew Burfield was charged with her murder. Wearing navy trousers and a blue open necked shirt, Burfield, of Todmorden Road, Burnley, spoke only to confirm his name and enter his plea.
Members of Katie's family sat in the public gallery to see the alleged killer enter his plea. The Honorary Recorder of Preston, Judge Robert Altham, confirmed the trial will take place on November 14, 2022.
Burfield was remanded in custody and warned he must attend the trial at Preston Crown Court in November.
