Amazon Studios has started production on its debut Italian original movie, the young adult comedy Dog Years (Annie Da Cane), which is being directed by Fabio Mollo (South is Nothing).

Nick Vivarelli International CorrespondentAmazon Studios has revealed its first Italian original film, the young adult comedy “Anni da cane” (Dog Years), directed by Fabio Mollo, whose Mafia drama “South is Nothing” went to Berlin. The film, which has just started production, is written and produced by Mary Stella Brugiati and Alessandro Bosi, and produced by Notorious Pictures.

Jamie Lang Sony Pictures Television has sealed a deal to send one of this year’s most anticipated period dramas, the pan-European co-produced “Leonardo,” to Amazon Prime Video in the U.K. where it will premiere April 16.“Leonardo” is an eight-part dramatized retelling of the life of the Italian master Leonardo da Vinci, played by Aidan Turner (“The Hobbit” franchise).

Amazon has taken the UK and Ireland rights to Aidan Turner series, Leonardo, following a deal with Sony Pictures Television. The series on Italian master Leonardo da Vinci will premiere on April 16.
