Amazon is set to double down on its sports output in the UK by taking rights to rugby union’s Six Nations Championship in a shared deal with the BBC and ITV, according to British newspaper The Times. The news emerged on the same day as Amazon announced it will premiere gay rugby film Steelers on April 16 in the UK and Ireland.

Amazon Hiring Head Of UK Originals Amazon is on the hunt for a UK head of originals, according to a job advert posted by the streaming giant. The successful candidate will report to Georgia Brown, the director of European originals at Amazon Studios. Amazon’s UK slate includes The Grand Tour and James May: Oh Cook, but the company has made clear that it is not planning a giant Netflix-style push into the British market. UK trade Broadcast first spotted the job ad.

France Channels, a Britbox-style streaming service dedicated to French content, will launch in the U.S. in Q2, 2021.

Amazon has taken the UK and Ireland rights to Aidan Turner series, Leonardo, following a deal with Sony Pictures Television. The series on Italian master Leonardo da Vinci will premiere on April 16.

ITV, the British broadcaster behind hits including Love Island and The Voice UK, suffered a £156 million ($215M) blow to its earnings during the height of the coronavirus crisis, as the pandemic hit the ad market and shut down production.
