Erin Andrews tearfully relived the day she called her parents to tell them how a stalker recorded her naked in a new interview, which aired on Monday. The sports journalist, 45, learned she was videotaped undressing inside a hotel room in 2008. Initially, she didn’t believe it when a male friend called her and said he had proof and had seen the video himself.“People thought it was a scandal,” she told Hoda Kotb on the “Today” show co-host’s Making Space podcast on Monday, November 20. “And I’m the square from high school.
I don’t do those things.”She continued: “I knew the second I got the phone call from my friend at ‘Sports Illustrated’ that he said, ‘There’s this video,’ and I said, ‘No, there’s not. I don’t do that. I’m single.
I don’t have that going on in my life.’ He’s like, ‘Erin, it’s you.'”Andrews immediately called her parents after watching the video.“My dad says he thought I had been in a car accident because I was just screaming,” she recalled to Kotb. “And I feel so bad. My parents were incredible.
I was, God, in my thirties when that happened, and I resorted to acting like a 15-year-old because, in terms of not wanting to deal, my parents really, they were on the forefront.”Andrews’ stalker, Michael David Barrett, filmed the star several times through a peephole while she was naked in her room at a Nashville hotel in 2008. Additionally, he filmed Andrews at a hotel in Columbus, Ohio.Barrett later admitted he altered the peepholes during a civil trial.
