Emmerdale fans were left shaking their heads when they tuned into tonight's (Wednesday) programme. After an hour-long special in which a dramatic car crash left three major characters at risk of death, viewers were obviously keen to find out what happened.
The cliffhanger - pun not intended - of last night's (October 10) programme saw Mackenzie Boyd struggling to save Charity Dingle and Chloe Harris as they teetered on a cliff edge. Mack (Lawrence Robb) tried to hold onto the car to allow the pair to escape.
But Charity (Emma Atkins) and Chloe (played by Jessie Elland) seemed to be stuck in the vehicle after Chloe accidentally hit the wheel while trying to get out. All fans saw was Mack's hand grabbing one female hand - with no clues as to who was saved.

As Emmerdale staples Mackenzie Boyd, Charity Dingle and Chloe Harris continue to navigate the aftermath of super soap week’s shocking car accident, fans at home were left flabbergasted this week as Mack aired his worries about Chloe being awoken from her coma. While on the surface, it could have been an endearing gesture had he actually been concerned for Chloe’s wellbeing, Mack’s real fear stemmed from whether or not Chloe remembered he had opted to save Charity rather than the mother of his child, when the car they were travelling in was dangling perilously on a cliff edge.To make matters worse, just before Mack visited Chloe in hospital he had approached Charity and declared his love for her, before tentatively asking if she felt the same.
