Emmerdale star Jeff Hordley has revealed he is "saddened" after details concerning co-star Sally Dexter's exit from the hit soap were recently unveiled. Jeff, 52, who portrays Cain Dingle in the ITV soap, branded his on-screen mum Sally, 62, "brilliant" as it was revealed that her character Faith Dingle will be leaving Emmerdale later this year.
The soap is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary in October and there's some huge plot twists lined up to mark occasion, including the return of three iconic characters, and all of the drama kickstarts with Faith's departure. Executive producer Jane Hudson told the Liverpool Echo: “At the start of the month, we will be focusing on our Faith storyline, which is a huge storyline for us at the moment.” Jeff, who is married to fellow Emmerdale star Zoe Henry, added: “My character is involved in the Faith storyline.
I'm personally saddened at losing the brilliant Sally Dexter, but it will give us some great stories going forward. I look forward to doing that and that is as much as I know.” Faith was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer on the soap and after initially keeping her diagnosis a secret, she eventually revealed the sad news to her children in recent episodes.
Actress Sally, who joined the ITV soap back in 2017, has revealed that filming the storyline has been "tough" but her co-stars have been a great support. She also revealed that her character's departure will be far from dull and fans can expect a few more "madcap schemes" from Faith.
