Emmerdale's Tony Audenshaw, who plays Bob Hope on the soap, opened up on This Morning today about the devastating loss of his wife to pancreatic cancer. The Emmerdale star spoke this morning to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby about the awful experience receiving his wife’s diagnosis. He said: “She was a really fit person, she ran a lot, and it was partly that which masked the symptoms.
“She went to the doctors because this dark urine had been happening for days, and they took tests, and by then she had also changed colour. “She went back to the doctors, and they said look, it could be up to two weeks before you can get a scan." He went on: "We knew that with pancreatic cancer, most people die within three months of diagnosis.
So she checked herself into the local hospital, had her scans and we were told it was pancreatic cancer. "It was pretty grim I’ve got to say.
I’m an optimist and I always thought it would be a benign tumour, but the doctor sort of said, you know, it’s cancer, it’s inoperable.” Tony then told Holly and Phil about the very harsh chemotherapy she underwent, describing the entire experience as “devastating”. Phil, visibly upset from hearing the story, said to Tony: “So you then decided that you would live life like you were retired?” Tony said that some days his wife was incredibly tired, but others she could still do exercise. The pair did constant activities together and soaked up their final moments together.
