Emmerdale star Jay Kontzle has shared the 'stress' of filming his latest heartbreaking storyline after welcoming a new baby just as his on-screen son fell seriously ill. In upcoming scenes in the ITV soap, Jay's character Billy Fletcher and his wife Dawn will be rocked by baby Evan's diagnosis.
The couple, who welcomed their first child together at Christmas, will be told their son has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. The shock news. every parent's worst nightmare, will throw the happy couple and their whole family unit - including their other children Lucas and Clemmie - into utter turmoil.
The upcoming episodes have been produced with the support of the charity Leukaemia Care who are working closely with the Emmerdale production team on this storyline to ensure a realistic and authentic depiction.

Spoilers have revealed that Dawn spots a new bruise on Evan’s leg and telephones the surgery to which Dr Liam Cavanagh immediately recommends taking Evan straight to A&E, where a paediatrician examines him and asks to complete blood tests. Anxious they will be accused of hurting Evan due to their previous dealings with social services, his parents are fearful.
But the paediatrician returns to explain he is a very sick baby. Having seen the blood test results, the paediatrician asks to take an urgent bone marrow biopsy as he has low haemoglobin and platelet levels so more tests are required. Dawn and Billy see their world imploding and are left reeling.
