Emmerdale star Katherine Dow Blyton has shared her own personal connection to the latest storyline airing on the ITV soap.

Former EastEnders star Louise Jameson has joined the Emmerdale cast – but it isn't the first time she's appeared in the Dales. She made her debut as Rhona Goskirk's (Zoe Henry) "no nonsense mother" on Monday 7 March, but Louise has previously played a historic role on the soap. Louise previously appeared on Emmerdale in 1973, playing teenager Sharon Crossthwaite.
Sharon was the cousin of Annie Sugden, and the daughter of Beryl and Ronnie Crossthwaite. However, her time on the show was brief. Louise's time on the show came to a grisly end, when Sharon was raped and murdered by Jim Latimer, who had developed a strange obsession with her.
The storyline made history, with Sharon being the first ever character to be murdered on an ITV soap – and Louise has previously joked it was her claim to fame. Louise went on to star in several iconic television series including Doctor Who, The Omega Factor, and Bergerac. When announcing Louise's casting, Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: "It's great to have such a high calibre and talented actor join our already strong team and she will be a fabulous asset to the show." Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Louise ruled out a return of her former character.
"She was a very sweet and innocent young girl," she said. "We can't bring her back because she's dead, so I've come back as something completely other!"
