Emergency service rescue teams pulled a man to safety from the River Irwell.
Firefighters and police were called to a stretch of the water near to Dearmans Place, in Salford, close to the Lowry Hotel, in the early hours of Friday morning.
Crews used a ladder and buoyancy aids to bring the man to safety.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics, before being taken to hospital in an ambulance.
Firefighters were at the scene for around 30 minutes.
