Elizbeth Olsen is opening up about her relationship with her Marvel Cinematic Universe character the Scarlet Witch.
The 34-year-old actress made her MCU debut in 2015′s Avengers: Age of Ultron. After a twisting story arc, her character seemingly perished at the end of 2022′s Doctor Strang in the Multiverse of Madness.
However, superhero fans know that a character can come back to life in the blink of an eye. Thus, Elizabeth‘s future in the universe is unclear.
In a recent interview, she addressed her desire to branch out and take on different roles at the moment.

“Specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel,” Elizabeth told The Times of London, via Variety.
She continued, saying, “I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance. I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can.”
“But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character,” Elizabeth explained.
The actress added that she gets “satisfaction from the variation.”
Elizabeth explained why she didn’t miss playing the Scarlet Witch in a recent interview. She also had some advice for future Marvel stars.

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic In 2008, the writer-director Azazel Jacobs made a small but vivid splash with “Momma’s Man,” a Sundance comedy about a troubled dweeb hiding out in the cocoon of his parents’ downtown Manhattan apartment. The parents were played by Jacobs’ own (the avant-garde filmmaker Ken Jacobs and his wife Flo), and the movie turned their overstuffed bohemian pack-rat museum of a loft into a tiny city of its own. “Momma’s Man” showed extraordinary promise, and in the 15 years since I’ve been waiting for Azazel Jacobs to make good on it.
Writer/Director Azazel Jacobs has made a couple of indie pictures I really loved. French Exit gave Michelle Pfeiffer one of her meatiest roles in years and she ran with it in a delicious Paris-set tale. He also provided Debra Winger and Tracy Letts with terrific roles in the sophisticated The Lovers. And now Jacobs shows once again he knows how to attract top actors with well-written characters in the intimate drama, His Three Daughters which stars Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne as a trio of sisters gathering in the New York City apartment where their father (Jay O. Sanders) is down the hall (unseen for most of the film) and near death. They have arrived to spend his final days with him, stretched out here to three, but also to renew their own dysfunctional dynamic in what could easily have been made as a play rather than a film, and feels just a bit too stagey for its own good.

Elizabeth Olsen made her Marvel debut as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in 2013’s “Captain America and the Winter Soldier”.
After working for the past several years in the Marvel universe, Elizabeth Olsen is ready to explore other roles. Olsen filmed WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness back-to-back, playing Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. In a pre-strike interview with Times of London, Olsen explained that is why she was drawn to the role of Candy Montgomery in Max’s Love and Death.
Zack Sharf Digital News Director Elizabeth Olsen told The Times of London in a recently-published interview (conducted pre-strike) that she is aggressively seeking a “variation” of characters after working for four years solely in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Olsen filmed “WandaVision” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” back to back, which was perhaps too much time dedicated to only playing Scarlet Witch. That’s a large reason Olsen was drawn to playing alleged axe murderer Candy Montgomery in Max’s “Love and Death.” “I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel,” Olsen said.
