EFA Announces Prize For Marco Bellocchio & Unveils First Awards Nominations; ‘Cop Secret’, ‘The Good Boss’ & ‘The Divide’ In The Running For Best Comedy

In fact, the studio had two Best Feature nominees, “Aftersun” and “Everything Everywhere All At Once.” The other nominations in the top category are “TAR,” which landed five nominations overall, Sundance premiere “Dos Estaciones” and “The Cathedral” which debuted at the Venice Film Festival in 2021.

By At 10 years old, Mallory Butts knew she wanted to attend Spelman College.An eager Mallory and her sister scurried alongside their mother, an alum of the college who’d brought her young daughters for a visit, toward the Sisters Chapel—the historic spirituality ministry perched on the center of Spelman’s campus—where they sat in on a set of twins giving a powerful speech on the magic of being Spelman women.“I wish I could remember their names,” Butts tells Glamour, “but I remember them giving a very powerful speech about the way Spelman really influenced who they were post-grad and the different ways that they were successful in their careers and out trying to change the world.”That day Mallory witnessed firsthand the camaraderie shared between Black women when they chose to become Spelmanites. As she exited the chapel, she watched her mother lovingly shout, “Hey, sister,” toward complete strangers as they walked across the campus.

Thania Garcia The South by Southwest Music Festival has revealed the first round of performers for its 37th annual celebration, taking over Austin, Texas, from March 13-18, 2023.  The full list of artists appears below, but highlights include South Korean artists Balming Tiger and Beenzino, Calle 13’s iLe (Puerto Rico), Ladaniva (France), Max Cooper (England), Mightmare, Núria Graham (Spain), the Orielles (England), Otoboke Beaver (Japan), RVG (Australia), Son Rompe Pera (Mexico) and dozens more. Like previous years, the festival will host multiple events spotlighting the 191 emerging talents on the list — with this being the first of several announcements for its planned showcases that will span six nights.

Naman Ramachandran Italian auteur Marco Bellocchio will be presented with the European Film Academy’s Award for European Innovative Storytelling for his miniseries “Exterior Night.” The director will be guest of honor at the 35th European Film Awards ceremony on Dec. 10 at Reykjavik. In “Exterior Night,” Bellocchio returns to the case of the kidnapping and assassination of former Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro by the Red Brigades in 1978, a subject that he tackled in his feature film “Good Morning, Night,” for which he received the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2003 European Film Awards. The academy has also revealed nominations in several categories for the awards.

Laura Poitras’s documentary All the Beauty and the Bloodshed appears to be on more solid ground as a possible Oscar frontrunner, after the release of DOC NYC’s influential shortlist of the year’s top nonfiction films.
