Urban explorers have revealed spooky pictures from inside a hidden passage that looks over one of the busiest roads in North Wales. The overpass crosses the A55 at Colwyn Bay and is tucked under the main railway track, just metres away from the Rainbow Bridge.
Opened in 1983, thousands drive past every day without knowing what's inside the secret passage under the bridge. The explorers entered the gap through a "heavy steel lidded manhole" and climbed down metal steps.
They then attempted to get to the other side. One explorer, who didn't want to be named, said they had to "squeeze and crouch, and at one point scrape along [their] bellies". They also spoke of "a growing sense of claustrophobia" within the group, North Wales Live reports.
The explorer explained: "The distance from one end to the other is surprisingly long, but by the halfway point you can look down through narrow gaps onto the carriageway below which helped keep us calm, in a strange way."
But that was "about to change dramatically" when they reached the halfway point, where they were able to see objects in the distance and continued on, discovering a blade, police tape, and empty pot noodles.
They added: "We reached the end, and let me tell you, We have never felt the same sense of dread before or since. In front of us was a single fold-away chair positioned facing a wall.
"On the wall was a partially torn page from a newspaper, or a magazine, showing a fully naked lady in an erotic position. I can't put my finger on it but it seemed more sinister than sexy, if that makes any sense.
"The scene that lay before us had rendered us completely speechless, and an overpowering sense of panic could be felt collectively.
