A Scots woman has shed three stone after being terrified she'd get cancer like her overweight mum.
Wendy Annand, who lives in Edinburgh, was looking for a change after lockdown and found success through online classes that have transformed her life.
The 51-year-old went from a size 16 to a size 12 through calorie counting, exercise and getting great advice from her online classes report MEN.
Wendy weighed 12st 6lbs at the start of her weight loss journey, she now weighs 10st 3lbs and said that wine, chocolate and portion sizes used to be her biggest downfall.
The mum said: "It was affecting my health and I was worried because I lost my mum to breast cancer at 55 and I’m in my 50s. I have to take it seriously.
“I have had a few friends who don’t worry about their weight but I don’t want to go down that route.
“Cancer caught up with mum so I thought, no, I’m going to do my best to live a healthier life and not let that get to me if possible. That’s what worried me rather than a lack of confidence, it was more health.”
Wendy continued: "“You can consume so much in a day without realising it.
“After my Zoom classes stopped, I felt a bit abandoned. Then I found Lynda’s group online by chance.
“She’s been superb. I’ve lost all the weight I managed to put back on and the advice has been brilliant. Losing weight was always going to be a challenge for me throughout my life and to remain in control.
“I feel a lot better now and I have more energy. I just feel able to move about a lot easier and I feel healthier, I’m not coming down with as many bugs. Pain wise, it’s a lot better for my arthritis because I’m not carrying as much weight.
“I’m trying to live a long and healthier life as my mum has missed out on becoming a gran to my son. She
