It was another devastating night for EastEnders fans on Wednesday as Lola Pearce was given just weeks left to live amid her worsening health. Viewers at home were left distraught on Tuesday, when Lola collapsed and began to lose control of her speech and mobility, with medics revealing the following day that her recent palliative chemo had sadly not had the desired effect, with the brain tumour once again having spread. Thanks to the growing tumour, it was now causing too much fluid and pressure on the young mum’s brain, which was the reason behind her worsening symptoms.
In a devastating moment, the doctor revealed Lola had just weeks left to live, not months, but rather than be defeated by the news in front of her relatives, she managed to paint on a smile while her daughter Lexi visited. After spending some quality time with her daughter, Lola asked Billy to help her to the bathroom, but while she was in the corridor, she tearfully asked her grandfather to help her end her life. “This is only going to get worse, isn’t it? If I don’t recognise Jay or Lexi anymore I couldn’t bear it,” began the ailing young woman.
"I don’t want to be just a person lying in a bed unable to do anything, you know? That is not me.That is not who I am,” she continued. Lola then made reference to her daughter as she added: “Lexi’s last memories of me should be happy, not me just laying in a bed, a shell of person with no dignity left.” “That ain’t going to happen, ok?” A heartbroken Billy tried to reassure her. Lola then reminded Billy of a promise he made on Tuesday’s episode, when he had promised to help her get through this.
