EastEnders was full of emotional scenes on Thursday as the BBC One soap aired a heartbreaking exit after Lola Pearce's devastating news. Only recently, Lola has come to terms with a brain tumour diagnosis, and despite knowing her days are numbered, she has continued to be an optimistic and uplifting presence for those around her. However, earlier this week, Lola was asked to come in for her hospital appointment one week earlier than originally planned.
Unsure of what to expect, Lola attended the appointment, where she was dealt the heartbreaking news that her cancer had progressed, meaning she now only has a mere six months left to live at best. And during Thursday's episode, Lola was dealt another devastating blow as her estranged mother, Emma Harding, who she recently reunited with, decided to abandon her once again. Emma said that her boss is relocating to the US and she's offered her an opportunity to join her in America, which appeared to be a lie, telling her daughter: "I'm sorry, I know the timing's not great." Confronting her mother, Lola snapped: "I suppose I should be grateful I spent some time with you, eh? You didn't run off this time.
You're actually telling me." As Emma attempted to apologise and explain again, Lola warned: "I don't need your pity. If anyone needs pity around here, it's you! I might be dying but at least I've lived." Emma then said she was grateful to have spent time with Lola to which she demanded she leave immediately.
