Eamonn Holmes has hit out at his former employers ITV claiming the network is 'out of ideas'.
The 56-year-old was joined on GB News by co-host Isabel Webster, and guests Christopher Biggins and Claire Pearsall to discuss the brand new ITV dating show Your Mum, My Dad. The new reality show, which has been dubbed the middle-aged Love Island, is hosted by Davina McCall and sees children set their single parents up.
The premise sees children in their 20s nominate their parents for the programme where they try to act as matchmakers for their mums and dads. As the panel discussed the show, Eamonn admitted he wasn't a fan and claimed the broadcaster has "got no other ideas.”
"Who would do such a thing? What will they think of next?” Christopher said. He added: "They've got no bright ideas these television people - are you listening?"
Isabel disagreed: "I think it's a good idea! Why does it only have to be young and beautiful (people)."
However, Eamonn was firmly on the side of Christopher and slammed his former employer. "I agree with you [Christopher]. I mean, ITV are the worst," he fumed. “If it's not Ant and Dec, or it's not Simon Cowell. Or it's not Bradley Walsh on The Chase, they've got no other ideas!"
Eamonn worked with ITV for nearly 30 years across different platforms, initially hosting GMTV between 1993 and 2005. He went on to host This Morning on Fridays with his wife Ruth Langsford - who still works at ITV on Loose Women - for 15 years until they were replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary in 2020.
