People are being urged not to ‘miss out’ on extra benefits worth around £67 each week, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has warned. The government department responsible for distributing benefits and pensions is urging people to check if they are eligible for financial support worth thousands of pounds each year.
The DWP sent an alert out on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday encouraging people to check their eligibility for pension credit. A post from its official account said: “Don't miss out on #PensionCredit. Around 1.4 million households are already claiming. Check your eligibility and apply online today. #HelpForHouseholds".
Previously the DWP said many do not claim the cash as they wrongly believe that because they have savings or own their own home they would not be eligible for Pension Credit. Almost a million people are currently missing out on the benefit, Liverpool Echo reports.
