Dramatic pictures show firefighters tackling a huge blaze at a recycling centre in Tameside on Saturday morning. About 20 firefighters were scrambled to the commercial unit in Stalybridge shortly before 8am.
They used an aerial platform to hose water on the fire. By mid-morning firefighters said the blaze was 'largely under control'.
However, residents were urged to keep their windows and doors shut because of a huge plume of black smoke which could be seen for miles around.
