A woman was raped by Benjamin Mendy's co-defendant Louis Saha Matturie just hours after celebrating her birthday, a jury has heard.
The alleged victim said she woke up to find Mr Matturie on top of her after having 'blacked out' while drinking at his apartment in Chapel Street, Salford, in March 2021.
Mr Matturie, who is standing trial alongside the Manchester City defender at Chester Crown Court, denies raping the woman, as well as a further five counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault relating to six women.
Mr Mendy, 28, faces seven counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, and one count of sexual assault against six women. He denies all charges against him.
Today, jurors heard from Woman Eight, who accuses Mr Matturie of raping her after she and two friends visited his apartment. In a video-recorded police interview, the woman said she had gone to the address after celebrating her birthday with friends at her home.
She said she believed she was heading to a party but, when upon arriving at the apartment, realised that only Mr Matturie and another man, whose identity is not clear, were present.
The woman said she drank ‘two to three’ drinks, which she alleged Mr Matturie made for her, as well as taking ‘balloons’ before she ‘blacked out’.
She then awoke on a mattress on the floor while Mr Matturie was raping her, she told a police officer. She said her dress was ripped and she felt ‘confused’ at the time.
“I didn’t even realise what was really happening until it was over,” she said.
The woman denied flirting or having had any ‘romantic contact’ with Mr Matturie and said she had not consented to sex.
Following the alleged incident, the woman said she found her friend - the other had since left - and told
