Ethan Shanfeld Buck Meek, the Texas-born singer-songwriter and guitarist of Big Thief, has signed to 4AD and announced his third solo album, “Haunted Mountain,” slated for an Aug. 25 release. Meek teased the upcoming release with a music video for the lead single, also titled “Haunted Mountain,” which is co-written by Jolie Holland. The album, according to the announcement, is about love and “something bigger than love, something that doesn’t challenge love exactly but stands in contrast to it. A soulfulness, or a soul-seeking fullness.” In Meek’s own words, “Not break-up songs, but an actual love song written in earnest? That is taboo now. Sometimes it can feel like all the great love songs have already been written.”
Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor As expected, Foo Fighters revealed their new drummer during a livestreamed event on Sunday: And as expected, it’s veteran session man and longtime friend Josh Freese. The band launches a massive tour — their first without drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died tragically in Colombia last year — in New Hampshire on May 24. While the band announced its intention to continue late last year, they went to great lengths not to reveal the identity of their new drummer. They played into this during the opening moments of the livestream, called “Foo Fighters: Preparing Music for Concerts,” which featured all of the members joking around with each other in their rehearsal room, with their guitars on.
Jem Aswad Senior Music Editor Foo Fighters have dropped the second song from their forthcoming album “But Here We Are,” a bruising punk-tinged song called “Under You,” with the album due on June 2. Doja Cat took to social media to make an unusual confession, and her fans are not happy about it.
Thania Garcia Doja Cat was named pop songwriter of the year at the privately-held BMI Pop Awards on May 9 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. Though she wasn’t present at the ceremony, Doja Cat had six of the most-performed songs of 2022 – “Get Into It (Yuh)” (co-written with Sully and Y2K), “I Like You (A Happier Song)” (co-written with Jasper Harris), “Need to Know,” “Vegas” (co-written with Rogét Chahayed and Yeti Beats), “Woman” (co-written with Aaron Horn (PRS), Linden Jay (PRS), Jidenna and Yeti Beats) and “You Right.” Khalid was presented with the BMI Champion Award by BMI president and CEO Mike O’Neill, who lauded the singer-songwriter’s musical contributions, industry accolades (he’s amassed 18 BMI awards) and dedication to uplifting future songwriters.

Thania Garcia It’s April 27, one day before the first of Rauw Alejandro’s two sold-out concerts at the Los Angeles Forum. His team is gearing up to bring next-level surround sound to the storied arena – which will see Alejandro singing and dancing for nearly three hours on a 360-degree stage – as they’ve done only twice before on the “Saturno World Tour,” in Miami and New York. Putting on a 360-degree concert is not only complicated and costly, it is enormously physically demanding for the performer, who must project in all directions instead of one. It’s taking a toll: In the hour leading up to showtime, Alejandro, swatched in bandages, hops from an exercise machine to a massage table where a team of physical therapists gets to work on his lower body. In the week that follows, doctor’s orders force him to postpone a show in Palm Springs due to injury – despite his constant efforts to go ahead.

Aubrey Plaza has criticised Jared Leto for making a mistake with his outfit at this year’s Met Gala. This year’s theme paid homage to late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019. While countless of the famous faces attending paid homage to their favourite designers by wearing elegant garments, Jared Leto went with a less conventional option and came dressed as Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette.Inspired by the designer’s beloved white Burmese cat, the actor and musician arrived in a full costume which covered his face, meaning no one knew who it was when he first arrived.
