Dog discovered in shocking condition with maggots on his body desperately needs home

A dog that was found with poo and sores on his body whilst suffering maggots is desperately needing rescued, according to a pet charity.
The little male dog was discovered at a family’s front door in a state of filth, looking like he had been neglected for some time.
The pooch was in pain and suffering from various infection and is now in the care of vets but he will require surgery for some of his issues.
According to the carers at Friends of Rescue, who are looking after the dog, he was unable to see or properly move due to his deeply matted coat and infected skin.
The charity believe the dog either escaped or has been dumped but are appealing for dog-lovers to transform his life.
The dog was found in the Limavady area of Co Derry and is being described as a welfare case, according to Belfast Live.
A spokesperson for Friends of Rescue said: “Once he was safe in the garden, he hid behind the shed. It’s hard to even make out what kind of dog he is, as he was just a lump of smelly infected dog hair.
“Immediately the finder brought him in and shaved off some of that hair. His eyes were stuck together with poo and he had pus oozing from different parts of his body.
“The poor wee pet had poo and sores on his back end and he was suffering from maggots... just horrendous. The finder took off what they could, but had to be careful as they didn’t know what they were shaving since he is covered in masses which could have been mistaken for matts.
“On Monday we took him to our vets for a check over but he is so sore and frightened that he didn’t like to be touched. His scrotum is swollen to three times the size it should be and it’s oozing pus. He also has four or five big lumps on his belly.
