Marc Malkin Senior Film Awards, Events & Lifestyle Editor Universal is hoping the possible SAG-AFTRA strike doesn’t get in the way of the London premiere of “Oppenheimer” on Thursday evening. Variety has learned the studio is rolling out the red carpet an hour earlier than originally planned — moving from 5:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. local time — with the hope that the 60 minutes will allow the cast, which includes stars like Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and Florence Pugh, to pose for photos and participate in interviews without going against SAG-AFTRA strike rules. Though the negotiations deadline comes on midnight Wednesday, the SAG-AFTRA board would still have to meet on Thursday to vote and confirm the call for the strike. Universal execs believe such an event may not happen before the premiere takes place.

EXCLUSIVE: Republic Pictures has snapped up rights to The Image of You, a recently wrapped thriller starring Sasha Pieterse (Pretty Little Liars) in dual roles. Pic is set for release via Paramount Global Content Distribution at a date that hasn’t been disclosed.

Abeckaser and writer Kosta Kondilopoulos, is based on true events surrounding New York City's infamous Gambino crime family in the 1960s and '70s.Hirsch stars as a disgraced New York police detective, Bobby Belucci, who goes undercover after a violent reaction to his wife's infidelity lands him a demotion at work.

Manori Ravindran Executive Editor of International Gugu Mbatha-Raw will lead the voice cast of the animated short film “To My Daughter.” The “Surface” star will narrate the movie, which is an adaptation of “This Thread of Gold,” the debut book by actor, writer, filmmaker and UN gender advisor Catherine Joy White (“Black Mirror,” “Ten Percent”). “This Thread of Gold” is billed as a celebration of Black womanhood, weaving a story about resilience that connects Beyoncé, Nina Simone, Shirley Chisholm and Meghan Markle, as well as those throughout history “who resisted in secret through trusted networks.” The film is described as “part guidebook, part exuberant narrative and part poetry.”

Charna Flam Emily Deschanel, Sam Trammell and Noma Dumezweni lead “ReEntry,” the first film from the production company PlotNaut, helmed by filmmakers Brendan Choisnet and Daniel Nayeri. The sci-fi romance stars Deschanel as Elenore, a woman grappling the disappearance of her husband (Trammell), after he enlists in a scientific experiment run by Dumezweni’s character. But, a year later he returns, and she learns he’s from a parallel dimension. She soon has to decide whether to pursue the man who is 99% of the husband she married or wait for the return of the man she once knew. Deschanel is best known for her 12-year run on the hit Fox series “Bones,” as well as the drama “Continue” and most recently Netflix’s “Devil in Ohio.” Likewise, Trammell starred for seven seasons on “True Blood,” as well as “Homeland” and “The Fault in Our Stars” and Dumezweni most recently starred in “The Little Mermaid,” “The Watcher” and “The Undoing.”

Elizabeth Wagmeister Chief Correspondent Hannah Brown, known as a former star of “The Bachelorette,” is launching a podcast with SiriusXM, Variety has learned exclusively. “Better Tomorrow With Hannah Brown” is a new lifestyle podcast hosted by Brown, as she seeks to answer life’s big questions: “Am I better today than I was yesterday?” and, “How can I learn to be better tomorrow?” The weekly series will premiere on July 19. Brown’s podcast will build on those questions, focusing on topics like confidence, relationships, love, faith and making time for yourself. Brown will be joined by guests on the series, including experts, celebrity friends, artists and entrepreneurs.

The program was inspired by RDJ’s Footprint Coalition, his 4-year-old environmental organization that works to mitigate climate change.
