Brent Lang Executive Editor of Film and Media Sister has enlisted “Pitch Perfect” writer and “Blockers” director Kay Cannon to work with best-selling author Taylor Jenkins Reid on a new original comedy film. Cannon will direct the film with Reid co-writing the script. The film centers around four childhood pals who get a drunken voicemail from their former best friend on the eve of her wedding day — confessing that she thinks she’s making a mistake — and set out to stop her wedding and rekindle the bond they once shared.  Ashley Rodger will co-write the film and produce the picture alongside Reid, Sister’s Co-Founder and Global CEO Stacey Snider, Ilda Diffley, Joanna Korshak, Brad Mendlsohn, Cannon and Laverne McKinnon. Shooting will start in the second quarter of 2023.

Angelique Jackson Ahead of the film’s world premiere next month at TIFF, Netflix has released the first trailer for Tyler Perry’s “A Jazzman’s Blues,” the billionaire media mogul’s longtime passion project. Written, directed and produced by Perry, the period drama tells the tale of forbidden love, starring Joshua Boone and Solea Pfeiffer as Bayou and Leanne, a star-crossed couple navigating the world as young Black people in the deep South during the 1940s and through the decades that follow.  “That was our first kiss. Ain’t nothing felt that good in all my life,” Boone’s Bayou narrates as the trailer opens on the lovers sharing a sweet smooch while sitting in a sun-soaked tree.

Our Beloved Summer, Parasite) and Son Suk-ku (Our Liberation Notes, D.P) are set to star in Netflix’s upcoming South Korean thriller series Murder DIEary.On August 19, Netflix Korea confirmed that Choi and Son would be leading the cast of its upcoming drama adaption of the hit thriller webtoon of the same name by NOMABI.Choi will star as its lead character, Lee Tang, a college student-turned-killer. He learns that all his victims had been criminals themselves, leading him to believe he has an innate urge to sense and eliminate evildoers.Investigating the killings is Gang Nan-gam (played by Son), a police detective said to have “animal-like instincts”.

Netflix has released the first full-length trailer for Tim Burton‘s Wednesday, the Addams Family reboot series.In the two-minute clip shared today (August 17), Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) is seen causing chaos at her public school swimming pool (with the help of some piranhas), before being transferred to Nevermore Academy, a place for exceptional but troublesome students.“Little did I know I was stepping into a nightmare, full of mystery, mayhem and murder,” narrates Wednesday.
