Disney Reportedly Will Announce New Marvel, Lucasfilm & Pixar Projects Later This Week

Lucasfilm recently revealed ten new “Star Wars” projects at their Disney Investors day coming to Disney+ in the near future (11 when you add the belatedly announced “The Book Of Boba Fett“), but a fairly significant update to one of them has been quietly unveiled.

It’s been more than a year since last year’s “Avengers: Endgame” and its coda, “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” Those two stories wrapped up what is affectionately called the “Infinity Saga.” But since then, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have yet to see an official return to the MCU.

One of the biggest additions to “The Mandalorian” in its second season was the return of fan-favorite character Boba Fett, with Temuera Morrison playing the bounty hunter. After already announcing a ton of spin-off series, Disney used the season finale of “The Mandalorian,” to leave fans one last announcement in a post-credits scene.

With the fallout of the new Warner Bros./HBO Max deal still being felt around the film industry, there are many people wondering which studio is going to be next to make a similar deal. Will we see Universal do a day-and-date release strategy with theaters and Peacock? What about Disney and Disney+? Well, in the case of the latter, it does appear that contracts could be worked out to make it a possibility, at least with Marvel Studios films.

Today, during Disney’s investor’s call, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy revealed that an untitled Ahsoka Tano series is in development at Disney+. The news isn’t entirely a surprise— former CEO chief Bob Iger had already said spin-off shows from Lucasfilm’s “The Mandalorian” were being explored.
