Spare a thought for Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
The Spaniard thought he had fired City in front in tonight's Champions League clash away at Copenhagen. The 26-year-old let rip with a superb effort from outside the box that flew beyond home stopper Kamil Grabara.
But his joy was short-lived as the goal was eventually chalked off due to a handball in the build-up. Replays showed the ball appearing to brush the hand of Riyad Mahrez just moments before Rodri's thunderbolt.

Despite it being unintentional, the rules state it has to be disallowed regardless. The incident came hot on the heels of a flashpoint involving Marcus Rashford just two days ago, when his goal was ruled out against Everton after it accidentally hit his hand in the build-up.
Later on in the game tonight, City were awarded a penalty following another controversial intervention by VAR that deemed home defender Nicolai Boilesen had handled in the box. Regardless of whether it was the correct decision or not, Mahrez stepped up and saw his spot-kick saved.
A red card for Sergio Gomez — also awarded after a VAR check — then saw Mahrez hooked in favour of an extra defender in the shape Ruben Dias. Suffice to say it wasn't the opening half City had in mind in Copenhagen, as the score stood 0-0 with the visitors a man down.
Here is a flavour of what Manchester City fans — and a prominent pundit — have been saying on social media about the VAR interventions.
