‘Beef’ season two could be a ‘Drive’ reunion with Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan

Beef season two have already begun, and it has been reported that the second instalment might see a reunion between two former co-stars.The A24/Netflix series about a road rage argument that escalates into a full-blown feud, received high critical acclaim for its first series, winning eight Emmys and three Golden Globes. It was announced earlier this year that a second season might be on the cards, with Jake Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny all originally rumoured to be involved. Now, according to Deadline, two more Hollywood A-listers are potentially set to join the cast, with sources sharing that Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan might be starring in the second season. This would mark another reunion for the two actors who starred alongside Ryan Gosling and Bryan Cranston in the 2011 action thriller film Drive, as well as the 2013 biopic, Inside Llewyn Davis.Inside sources have reportedly told Deadline that the pair are “in negotiations to star” in season two and that the roles Mulligan and Isaac are up for were the ones originally intended for Hathaway and Gyllenhaal. While it was reported to Deadline that the second season hasn’t officially been given the green light, inside sources have shared that the plot is set to centre around two feuding couples. The rumours come after a busy year for Mulligan, who played the eccentric friend of Rosamund Pike’s character in Saltburn, earned an Oscar nomination for her portrayal as Felicia Montealegre, wife of Leonard Bernstein, in Bradley Cooper’s Maestro, and starred opposite Adam Sandler in the Netflix sci-fi movie Spaceman.Isaac, whose past projects include Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, the Star Wars sequel trilogy and playing the eponymous role in Inside Llewyn

Remembering Donald Sutherland: From Cool in ‘MASH’ to Sexy in ‘Don’t Look Now’ to Tragic in ‘Ordinary People,’ He Was a Chameleon, and the Most Human of Movie Stars

Owen Gleiberman Chief Film Critic It may now be hard to imagine, but in 1970, Donald Sutherland, who died Thursday at 88, was the coolest movie star on the planet. The moment I saw him in “MASH,” I knew he was the person I wanted to be, the same way that I wanted to be Mick Jagger or Steve McQueen. In 1970, Pacino and De Niro hadn’t happened yet.

Griffin Dunne on His Fascinating, Complicated Family, His ‘Hilarious’ Friendship With Carrie Fisher and Directing ‘Practical Magic’

Pat Saperstein Deputy Editor Griffin Dunne‘s family has done so many larger-than-life, unbelievable things that when the actor-director-producer started to write his memoir “The Friday Afternoon Club: A Memoir of Family,” he realized it wasn’t enough to start the story with his complex writer father Dominick Dunne. In fact, it was impossible to understand the forces that shaped the Dunnes, including his uncle John Gregory Dunne and sister Dominique Dunne — without understanding his father’s abusive upbringing in an Irish Catholic family, his mother’s Mexican heritage and all great love stories, clandestine affairs, celebrity encounters and tragedies that seem to surround them, buffeted with lots of pitch-black mordant humor.

Coralie Fargeat’s ‘The Substance’ and David Bowie Homage Join Fully Announced Lineup For Mediterrane Film Festival

Rafa Sales Ross Guest Contributor The Mediterrane Film Festival announced its complete program ahead of its second edition, taking place in Malta’s capital of Valetta from June 22-30. New titles selected include recent Cannes highlights in Coralie Fargeat’s Demi Moore-led body horror “The Substance” and Roberto Minvervini’s “The Damned,” which join previously announced films like Yorgos Lanthimos’s “Kinds of Kindness” and Jane Schoenbrun’s “I Saw The TV Glow.” Further program additions include Mahdi Fleifel’s Directors’ Fortnight standout “To a Land Unknown,” which Variety labeled “a confident, angry, fully-realized drama,” and Truong Minh Quy’s Un Certain Regard breakout “Viet and Nam.” An extended version of the Malta-shot “Jurassic World: Dominion” will play as part of the Malta Expanded strand, while on the retrospective end of the program, the festival will honor David Bowie with screenings of Nicolas Roeg’s “The Man Who Fell to Earth” and Lisa Azuelos’s “My Way,” plus a masterclass on the musician’s enduring legacy helmed by British Film Commissioner Adrian Wootton titled “David Bowie: Celebrating 60 Years of Genius.” Artistic Director Teresa Cavina said she is “very happy” with the selection, calling it “a chorus of strong and harmonious voices that, through extraordinary films, gives shape to a complex and varied universe, a mirror of the reality that surrounds us, often difficult to decipher, sometimes painful, but also full of hope and capacity for renewal.” Cavina also emphasised the strong female presence at this year’s festival, with 16 films — almost half of the festival’s official selection — comprised of works directed by women.

NME how David Bowie used to disguise himself in public during the height of his commercial success.Edwards, who founded the celebrated PR film The Outside Organisation, worked alongside Bowie, as well as the likes of The Rolling Stones, Prince and Britney Spears. He has now published his memoir, I Was There: Dispatches from a Life in Rock and Roll, and in a conversation with NME about it, he has disclosed how Bowie dealt with his fame in the early ‘80s.“I met with him just after he had done [Nagisa Ōshima’s 1983 war epic with Ryuichi Sakamoto] Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence, so he was being treated like a movie star — but also he had just been dropped by his label because ‘Low’ and ‘Heroes’ weren’t being deemed as good commercially as stuff like Bay City Rollers!” Edwards explained.“It was when I went on tour with him that it started to sink in how down-to-earth and charming he was. He’d turn up at our office in Tottenham Court Road and make coffee for everyone.”“He told me his secret to not being recognised was to wear a cloth cap and have a Greek newspaper under his arm.

“I was having a man’s life in a woman’s body,” Diane von Furstenberg, famous Belgian fashion designer and businesswoman, says more than once in the new Hulu documentary. It’s a weird sentiment to say in a doc about female trailblazing empowerment, agency, and freedom, but one supposes it fits for the era when women’s lib was thriving, but perhaps not every woman was reaping its benefits.
