Police are working to identify a man whose body was pulled from water in Rochdale.
His body was pulled from the River Roch yesterday morning (Wednesday) after being spotted in the water at around 6.30am. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said this morning that investigations are now underway to try and identify him and contact his next of kin.
No further details on the circumstances of how he came to be in the water have been released at this stage. The Manchester Evening News understands the body was first spotted by a person waiting at a set of traffic lights.

Nearby St Mary's Gate was taped off yesterday as emergency services responded. Police officers, including crime scene investigators, firefighters and paramedics were pictured on the scene.
A white tent was erected near a stretch of the river. Drivers were urged to avoid the area for several hours while investigations were carried out.
In a statement issued this morning, a GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 6.30am on Wednesday 28 June 2023, police received reports of a body in the River Roch. GMP were joined by colleagues at GMFRS and NWAS to recover the body of the man, who was sadly deceased.
"Investigations are now ongoing to identify the man and contact his next of kin."
