EXCLUSIVE: Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Anyone But You) has been cast in the upcoming Starz drama The Hunting Wives in a series regular role alongside previously announced co-leads Malin Åkerman and Brittany Snow. Production will begin production this spring in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Mulroney will play Jed Banks, a fifth-generation oil man, alpha millionaire and the husband of trophy wife Margo (Åkerman). Above all else, he’s a ladies-man who loves nothing more than bringing guest stars into their marital bed. And although he’s considering a run for Texas Governor, he’s determined not to let public service get in the way of their good time.
Written by Rebecca Cutter based on the novel of the same name by May Cobb, The Hunting Wives tells the story of Sophie O’Neil (Snow) and her family’s move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Bank’s (Åkerman) irresistible charms – and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction and murder.
Showrunner Cutter executive produces with Cobb and 3 Arts’ Erwin Stoff. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.
Last seen in Sony’s rom-com Anyone But You, Mulroney has also been seen of late in films including Scream VI, as well as indies Breakwater and Ruthless. Also known for turns in films like My Best Friend’s Wedding and August: Osage County, his TV credits include Marvel’s Secret Invasion, HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones, Arrested Development and ABC’s Station 19, to name just a few.
Mulroney is represented by Paradigm.
