The Glazer family announced in November that they were 'exploring strategic alternatives for the club' and that announcement tempted Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani of Qatar and Sir Jim Ratcliffe to the negotiating table.
Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe have both submitted their proposals to acquire United, but after multiple rounds of bidding and eight months since the Glazers made their announcement, there is no resolution within sight.

Erik ten Hag has been forced to operate in the transfer market with uncertainty surrounding ownership and supporters, who have regularly protested against the Glazers since 2005, have been left frustrated with the process.
There has been no communication from the Glazers over the state of the sale and the new Premier League season is just two weeks away. Beckham recently spoke to The Athletic about the Glazers and he urged them to sell the club for the sake of the fans.
“It hasn’t been the greatest of times for Manchester United, on the field or off the field," Beckham said. "Seeing Erik come in is a breath of fresh air. He has had some tough decisions to make but he has done it in the most elegant way and in a way where he has got the fans on his side.
“Off the field, as a fan and ex-player, I just want it resolved. There has to be a decision [regarding the ownership]. Whoever is running your club, you want them to be passionate, be involved, make the right decisions, bring in the right players and invest in the club.
