David Beckham's dapper appearance at the BAFTA Film Awards hasn't impressed everyone as he had viewers flocking to social media to speak out over his use of one word. The former Manchester United and England star was on hand to present an award at the star-studded ceremony on Sunday (February 18).
David, 48, was jokingly introduced as "an up and coming" football star by this year's BAFTA host David Tennant before taking to the stage to applause from the audience of film stars.
As he made his way out onto the stage, the former footballer looked typically dapper as he sported a black tux and bow tie. He was there to present the Outstanding debut by a British writer, director or producer award which was won by screenwriter and film director Savanah Leaf and producers Shirley O'Connor and Medb Riordan for their film Earth Mama.

But it was when introducing the nominees that David caused a stir as he said: "They say that practise makes perfect. Well, that might be true in football, or soccer, but it’s not true for the filmmakers nominated for outstanding debut. They got it right first time."
And it was his use of ‘soccer’ that didn’t go unnoticed by those tuning in to watch the glitzy event unfold on BBC One and taking to social media, viewers fumed about his clarification being unnecessary due to the Baftas being a 'British' awards show ahead of the Oscars taking place in the US next month.
