Dance Moms sensation Kelly Hyland has revealed she's been diagnosed with breast cancer and is being supported by her daughters, Brooke and Paige.
The renowned momager, known for her fiery clashes with dance coach Abby Lee Miller on the hit show, is undergoing chemotherapy after discovering a lump in March 2024. She's battling invasive carcinoma grade 3, which was detected after she insisted on a mammogram. Speaking to E! News, Kelly revealed: "I had just had one done eight months prior and the results came back clean.
However, this new mammogram and sonogram did not, it came back showing a mass. I went from clean results to a malignant mass in eight months." She expressed her shock at the rapid growth of the cancer, saying, "I was shocked that it had grown that quickly and scared of the battle I knew I was about to face," reports the Daily Star. Kelly noticed something amiss when she experienced "significant weight loss" without altering her diet or exercise habits.
Concerned about breaking the news to her children Brooke, 26, Paige, 23, and Josh, 24, especially after they lost their grandmother to cancer in 2019, Kelly eventually shared her diagnosis over the phone. Kelly faces a tough regimen of six rounds of chemotherapy, followed by surgery, radiation, and an additional 11 rounds of chemo. Her daughters have rallied around her, taking to social media to show their support, including sharing moments of Kelly being fitted for wigs as she loses her hair during treatment.
In another image shared, Kelly appears in hospital receiving IV treatment, cheekily giving the middle finger to the machine whilst wearing a padded cap over her head and shoulders. Her daughter Paige praises her with: "Strongest person I know. I love you
