BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker was forced to apologise to viewers of the show when a Ukrainian guest swore at Russian President Vladimir Putin while live on air. Ukrainian singer Maria Burmaka joined Dan and his co-host Sally Nugent on the morning show to talk about the current situation, as Russia continues to attack Ukraine.
During their emotive chat, Maria told Dan, 44, and Sally, 50, how she feels about President Putin as she discussed the invasion and the impact on the Ukrainian people. She passionately said: “I want to say to Putin, you are a murderer, an aggressor.

Dan told the guest: “Sorry Maria.
I understand the depth of feelings, but I have to apologise to viewers for the language there Taking to social media after BBC Breakfast wrapped, former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Dan cleared up why he had to intervene during the chat. He wrote on Twitter: “What a treat to talk to Maria Burmaka on #BBCBreakfast live from Kyiv this morning.” The host continued to say to his 750,000 followers: “I had to apologise for the language at the end but that doesn’t mean you can’t empathise and understand the depth of feeling and I think 99% of people get that.”
