A dad-of-three was told he was free from cancer, only to be diagnosed with a brain lesion just days later. Darren Gooch, 45, had been suffering from seizures since the summer of 2023. After noticing changes in his behaviour, memory loss and night sweats, he decided to close down his gas business.
His family then had to rely on his wife's part-time wage.
But weeks later Darren was diagnosed with primary CNS lymphoma, a type of cancer that forms in the brain's lymph tissue and underwent four rounds of intense chemotherapy.
Four months later, doctors told him he was cancer-free - yet just over a week later, he suffered two more seizures while in hospital. Doctors then found a new lesion on his brain and told him his cancer had returned.

Despite the devastating news, Darren is determined to stay positive. He believes that having a laugh and doing enjoyable things helped him beat cancer the first time, so he's ready to do it again.
Speaking to PA Real Life, Darren said: "I don't know how I'm going to deal with the mental side of my diagnosis because I still haven't processed it."
"Cancer doesn't care about anyone. You know, it doesn't matter what race you are, it doesn't matter how old you are."
"It's a bit worrying but I've just got to try and stay strong."
On July 20 2023, Darren had two seizures in his sleep - something that had never happened to him before. He was quickly taken to St Helier Hospital where doctors tried to figure out what was wrong for three weeks.
He said: "I didn't know what the hell was going on, I didn't even know what a seizure was it was just so worrying."
