A dad is furious that an investigation into a sexual assault on his teenage daughter has taken over two years.
The father said that his daughter was 'dragged' into an alleyway during the summer of 2019.
The young woman, from Crewe, was able to fight back against her attacker but the dad said that the incident has left both her and her family utterly 'traumatised', Cheshire Live reports.
Cheshire Police has confirmed that the allegation was part of a wider investigation that involved 'a number of victims and suspects'.
A 'number of teenage boys' have been arrested as part of their probe and a file full of evidence has been passed on to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
But the dad, who has not been named to protect the identity of his daughter, has criticised the force for the time it has taken to progress the investigation.
He said: "It's becoming a bit of a nightmare and there are other young girls out there. The police are starting to communicate with me now but it's been two years.
"There are apparently a lot of other young girls involved."
It is understood that an officer investigating the case passed away during the course of enquiries. He said he felt for the officer and their family but that the case might not have been picked up afterwards as quickly as it could have been.
The dad has submitted an official complaint to Cheshire Constabulary about his concerns.
He said: "I've been getting apologies from the police but sorry isn't good enough. My daughter has been traumatised, she's not been able to get any counselling.
"She has forgotten a little bit about it now and I don't want to bring it all back to her but it's been two years. I get it's such a complex case but I feel it's been left at the bottom of a pile."

He vehemently denies ever engaging in any sex act with plaintiff or assaulting or battering her,” the new filing states.“She provides no allegations of any statement by defendant that he would help her career, and no allegations of any statement about how defendant might advance her career,” the filing continues.
