A car was found hanging from a garden fence after a dramatic crash in a Scots housing estate.
Dramatic photographs from Hawthorn Drive in Craigneuk, Airdrie, show a black Kia 4X4 mounted on a garden fence, and a damaged red hatchback.
Police were called to the scene at 6am on Thursday morning but said the occupants of one the vehicles had fled.
Officers say they are following a 'positive line on enquiry'.
Resident Johnathan MacIntyre, understood to be the owner of the damaged red vehicle, shared pictures on social media.
The four-by-four can be seen with broken windows and all the airbags within inflated.
Large amounts of damage have been done to the car's body work with smashed headlights and wheel arches littering the residential street.
Meanwhile the red hatchback also appeared heavily damaged with the car sitting askew on the pavement.
A further photo from the scene shows three police cars with blue lights lit up blocking one end of the road as officers investigated the incident.
Mr MacIntrye simply wrote: "I've had better Thursday mornings" as a caption to the images.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.05am on Thursday, 29 February, 2024, police were called to the Hawthorn Drive area of Craigneuk, Airdrie, following a report of a one-vehicle crash.
“Officers attended and it was established the occupants of the car had left the scene. Police are following positive lines of enquiry.”
