Former Coronation Street star Jack James Ryan has shared a touching tribute after the sudden passing of an important family member. The actor, who played Jacob Hay on the soap, took to his Instagram stories to share the sad news that his family dog and ‘best mate’, Frank, had unexpectedly passed away.
Jack shared a sweet snap of him and Frank, a tan and grey French bulldog, with the actor holding his dog’s face as the pup looked up at him, writing: “Utterly devastated to say we lost my best boy Frank today very unexpectedly to an aggressive cancer. He was the best mate a guy could ask for.” The former Corrie actor followed up his tribute with a second photo of Frank sitting alongside his family’s other two dogs with the caption: “The iconic trio”, as he mourned the unexpected loss of his important family member.
Jack played Jacob Hay on Coronation Street from 2021, before leaving the ITV soap in January of this year in a dramatic exit storyline that saw his character deciding to leave the street after he was threatened by Damon, his on-screen father. Jack revealed that he’d made the difficult decision to leave the cobbles after he decided he wanted to explore other characters. The 27 year old told the press: “I'm still young, and there's so much stuff that I want to go and do.
"I also felt like I had come and done what I intended to do. We talk about the Corrie bingo cards, like where you tick off things you've done...
I've come in, I've played the villain, I've had my redemption arc, I got to punch Steve McDonald, I went to prison, I even moved into 1 Coronation Street with Ken Barlow! You can't get much better than that. "It just felt right, it felt like the right time to leave the show." Despite leaving the show, fans
