Coppola’s last hurrah or final flop? Inside ‘Godfather’ director’s troubled ‘Megalopolis’

Good news for Francis Ford Coppola earlier this week, as Lionsgate stepped up to snag distribution rights for his self-financed “Megalopolis.” But THR reports there’s a catch to the Lionsgate deal for FFC: the 85-year-old will need to spend up to $20 million in marketing for the film’s theatrical release. That’s on top of the $120 million Coppola already spent to finance his passion project in the first place.

Vito Coppola has left his fans delighted as he revealed they'll be getting an extra dose of him on their TV screens this year. It was confirmed earlier this month that the dancer will be returning to Strictly Come Dancing this autumn.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, the recently-combined genre giants, will produce a new film from “Evil Dead Rise” director Lee Cronin at New Line Cinema.Cronin will write and direct the top secret project, one that has been suggested will remain in his horror wheelhouse. The Irish filmmaker will also produce the project through his label Doppelgängers.New Line, a Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group label, has dated the film for an April 2026 release.
