Controversial plans to build more than 2,000 homes in the Hyde countryside are to go out to public consultation again ahead of a potential decision at the end of the year.
Tameside council applied to create the huge Godley Green Garden Village in October last year, with the target date set for a local decision in the summer before going to government for the final say on whether to release the land from green belt.
Under the plans up to 2,150 homes would be built to the north of Mottram Old Road, as well as ‘local centres’ which would include up to 1,300 sq m of retail, 1,600 sq m of commercial uses and 1,000 sq m of local community uses.
However the authority has now confirmed that a number of technical surveys and studies are now being updated by the project team following consultation feedback from the public and statutory consultees.
These surveys, which cover ecology, ground, archaeology and transport, will need to be resubmitted as part of the application environmental statement.

The town hall states it is aiming to complete the investigative works with partners to ‘finalise’ the planning application with the intention of submitting before the end of the year.
After these have been added, bosses say a further period of consultation will need to take place.
In the previous consultation period there had been 3,471 objections against the proposals, compared to just 21 supporting letters.
At the most recent meeting of full council it was moved that the application be decided by the planning committee, rather than the strategic planning and capital monitoring panel.
Council leader Ged Cooney said this was to enable transparency
